It is with absolute pleasure that I introduce you to our newest Magic Maker, Desley, more often known as desleyjane (yes, that’s all lower case, lol) of desleyjaneplans.

If you follow Hobby Hoppers on social media, you will already know that Desley and I are friends. What you mightn’t know, is that not only does desleyjane plan, but she is a National Sales Manager by day, a Scientist by trade, a YouTuber on the side, a passionate photographer, and a Mumma to her gorgeous maltese cross fur baby Miss Gidget. (Gidget is 12 and pretty sassy!) Yep, Desley is one very busy lady! That is why I feel so lucky that she is adding Magic Maker to her already very full “planner” (pun intended).

Desley has been planning or creating in one way or another her whole life. Always having diaries as a kid, she remembers fondly a red and white polka dot hardcover diary from the Women’s Weekly magazine that her Mum gave to her, with its glossy pages and space to write down all the things that were happening to her 13 year old self, this may have been where her love of stationery began.

Desley shares her world of stationery through various forms of planning and journaling on Instagram and YouTube. When asked what her favourite supplies are, she replied “#allthestationery – notebooks, planners, journals, washi tape (oh my gosh, I love washi tape), stickers, pens and vellum and all sorts of things! I think my love of ephemera opened the world of creative journaling for me! I love collage journaling, pulling together pieces that work with each other to highlight or showcase a moment in time. It’s such a therapeutic process, and one I wish I had more time to enjoy.”

Desley’s ability to find beauty in ordinary found things which she then uses to embellish her words and photos in her journal is extraordinary. Most recently Desley has also moved into using water colour and acrylic paints, textures, stamps and handmade papers as well.

It would be remiss of me not to mention that Desley is also the creator behind our gorgeous logo and branding colours, with marketing being another of her passions she really is jack of all trades!
